Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch the artist has depicted celebration of spring festival where young women are dancing and their postures are expressive of their moods. The balanced composition is executed with bold, firm yet fluid ink strokes articulating the contours of the dancers, filled with dabs and dashes of colours and suggesting their demeanour.
