Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, the artist has depicted a woman from behind while she is walking playfully carrying a pot and lotuses in her hands. The graceful figure is rendered with linear, firm yet fluid pencil strokes articulating the basic contours of the woman and suggesting her demeanour.
